THIRD YEAR APPRENTICE (Full Time Seasonal)

This position is responsible for assisting in the efficient operations of the Milestones kitchen to ensure customers receive quality service and meals. This includes: arriving to work for scheduled start time, ready to commence work with appropriate tools, uniform and in adherence to the grooming policy; setting up grills, fryers and equipment; ala carte cooking; stocking condiments, foods, small wares and required supplies; pre-portioning food; preparing salads; preparing menu items; storing foods; clean as you go to ensure cleanliness of the work area; after service turn off and clean oven tops and work areas; complete all give tasks to set standards (while constantly seeking to improve); be able to work in another area when needed and take part in cross-training when directed; make sure food quality and quantity is correct; make sure all food is prepared by recipes designated by supervisor; follow all kitchen regulations as outlined and directed; adhere to all health and safety standards, guidelines and policies; be able to assist in same day prep and advance prep for another station as instructed by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • 2 years experience in a cooking and or classroom environment.
  • Experience in a high volume restaurant environment.
  • Previous Milestones experience an asset.
  • First year culinary students preferred.
  • Ability to perform under strict supervision and apply skills learned to culinary training.
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma required.

SECOND YEAR APPRENTICE (Full Time Seasonal)

This position is responsible for assisting in the efficient operations of the Milestones kitchen to ensure customers receive quality service and meals. This includes: setting up grills, fryers and equipment; ala carte cooking; ordering and stocking condiments, foods, small wares and required supplies; pre-portioning food; preparing salads; preparing menu items; storing foods; clean as you go; after service turn off and clean oven tops and work areas; any other requests made by management including stopping, bending and lifting weights up to and including 30 pounds will normally be required; be able to work in another area when needed and take part in cross-training when directed; make sure food quality and quantity is correct; make sure all food is prepared by recipes designated by supervisor; follow all kitchen regulations as outlined and directed; be able to assist in same day prep and advance prep for another station as instructed by supervisor.

KITCHEN STEWARD (Part Time Seasonal)

This position is responsible for completing all tasks assigned as well as maintaining the highest level of Marriott Hotels. All immediate work areas must be clean and free from debris while adhering to all health and safety procedures of the hotel. Duties include but are not limited to: effective and efficient cleaning of all pots, dishes, glass and silver utensils; restocking glasses, dishes and cutlery; keeping dish area of kitchen clean and organized; ensuring that dishwashing machine is kept clean and tidy after each shift; operate, clean and general maintenance of all machinery and heavy duty equipment within the department including the dishwashing machine, and soaking tanks; removing broken and chipped dishes and advising supervisor; sweeping and mopping dishwashing area/floors after each shift; complete all other duties as assigned by your direct supervisor; etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated commitment and passion to maximizing guest satisfaction in each stage of the guest experience, particularly as it pertains to exceptional standards of cleanliness within the kitchen
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as cooperatively within a team setting.
  • Must be a highly motivated individual.
  • Outstanding attention to detail – in properly identifying cleanliness standards of pots/ dishes, cutlery, glassware and other kitchen utensils, and level of required attention needed

Sous Chef (Full Time Seasonal)

We are currently searching for a Sous Chef who has a passion for excellence to lead our culinary team. As a Sous Chef you will be assisting the Milestones Chef in running the operations of the Milestones Restaurant. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Assisting in day to day management and operations of Milestones kitchen. Assisting in the recruiting, training and developing the Kitchen team Maintaining, implementing policies and procedures. Purchasing, receiving and storage of all food items. Managing food costs through waste management, portion control and ordering. Ensuring high level of food quality and consistency through training and direction to kitchen associates. Maintaining exceptional levels of guest service. Working within budgeted guidelines in relation to Food and Payroll. Ensuring daily stand-up/ communication meetings are conducted. Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years cooking experience in high volume restaurant with at least 1 year experience in a Supervisory capacity.
  • Outstanding attention to detail – both personal grooming/appearance and properly identifying guests needs, demeanor, and level of required service attention.
  • Diploma in Culinary Management. Food safety certified.
  • Strong leadership and Communication skills. Has a leadership style that is developmental vs. policing, promotes a culture of dialogue, role models values and practices of the company
  • The successful candidate is expected to be a leader in demonstrating behaviours consistent with Milestones Culture Statement – i.e. must have the “Hospitality Gene”.

Server (Full Time Seasonal)

Milestones is currently seeking a server to provide the highest level of guest service and accommodation in our restaurant. The ideal candidate is passionate about our brand, guest service and thrives on an empowered environment, delivering our service promise. The server goes above and beyond to take care of guests from the presentation of amenities to giving each guest a genuine, personalized dining experience, while also providing fast, friendly, and efficient service. This key service position is responsible for creating and driving the guest dining room experience by ensuring passionate, sophisticated, and proficient, food and beverage service is provided at all times, and personal attention which often anticipates and responds to guest needs through vigilant attention to follow-up in an effortless and unobtrusive/discreet manner. Tasks may include, but are not limited to: Enthusiastically Welcoming/Greeting Guests, seating of guests; food and beverage product selection, suggestion, and sales; food and beverage service/delivery; check settlement; post – meal activity suggestions/recommendations, attending to special requests; inventory/restocking of sections/supplies; etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Host / Hostess (Full Time Seasonal)

Milestones restaurant is looking for an energetic, motivated and professional Full Time Seasonal Host/Hostess to join their team. This position is responsible for performing a variety of activities to ensure courteous and quality service is provided to customers.

This includes: welcoming guests to Milestones with a pleasant greeting, ensuring their dining experience exceeds their expectations through attentive, personal service, and thanking them for their business; complete knowledge of Outlet offerings and the ability to sell our services; assisting the supervisor in managing section assignments and managing reservations; greeting and seating guests warmly; answering telephones and taking reservations; communicating to the kitchen team reservation numbers and special requests; ensuring tidy work areas; assisting associates as required; fostering positive guest relations through personal interaction; answering guest inquires through verbal and written communication; maintaining cleanliness of menus and accuracy of event signage; maintain all Health and Safety Standards and polices and procedures; other tasks and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
